Model Savings: Introdcing Kattya Heredia
by Unknown on

In the last week I have had the pleasure of meeting someone
who has become another inspiration
to my craft as a model.
She is not only beautiful and has been in music videos and is a
big dreamer just like myself.
But she is the most dopest down to earth model I have ever met.
It's because I found her through my explore page on Instagram
liked a few of her photos and she started following me.
The next thing you know I find out
King Boyett also shot her as well. It was at that moment
I knew everything happens for a reason.
With that said
Here is what Kattya has to say.

<3

Tell the readers Here at ModelSaving.Com a little bit about yourself.
Well, im Peruvian, 100 proof. Im 23 years young, im a virgo, and im an entrepreneur. You’ve probably seen me in different music videos, rap, reggae , r&b, hip hop, Reggeaton. I have a Swim suit line, im a model, I live in Miami… Im just a cool girl with big dreams & great stories.

How long have you been modeling for?
I started modeling when I was 19. Im now 23 so its been about 4 years now.

what is your inspiration?
My inspiration comes from life. Life inspires me to do everything that I do. Growth, Change, Time. The fact that I grow with every Photoshoot, the feeling I get looking through my work, noticing how my body and style changes through out the years… It all inspires me to be better and better, that’s where it begins, for me.

In a world that's based on looks, and social media, technology, and if you do one thing wrong you are automatically hated, How do you keep your identity and your morals from changing?

Honestly, its hard. Specially when you feel like you’re the only one left with morals. But ive learned to look beyond that. People should do what they want. I do what I want, ive just learned its best to stay true to yourself. If it feels wrong, don’t do it. And if you make mistakes, whatever, That’s what life is about.

What is your greatest accomplishment?
My greatest accomplishment would be starting my Swimsuit line; Kayline Collection. That’s my baby.

What are some of the projects you have worked and or currently working on? Well, My Swimsuit line is my biggest project, which happens to be my business. When I have free time, that’s what I work on, and when I don’t have free time, I make time free time, to work on it.

Im also in the midst of dropping my website late November which will hold cool tees for my lovely supporters to order. Ill also be blogging and sharing my new photos, videos and more! www.KattyaHeredia.com coming soon!

Ive decided to stop talking about how I want to change the world, and actually start doing my part. I’m beginning to volunteer for different non profits and organizations that help the community, in the hopes that I will learn the ropes and one day start my own. A way to help the children in need in south America, beginning with my country, Peru and spreading the love world wide. So that’s another project that takes up my brain space lol

What do you do to stay in shape, you are def fit and I am sure my readers would love to know this?

Well, to be completely honest, im once again new to the fit life. When I was younger I was naturally skinny and it wasn’t hard to stay that way. Then the last two years I was on the thicker side. It came with complications, unhealthy eating habits and I simply didn’t like how I looked so I got off my as*, excuse the language, and started running. That’s what initially got me skinny again, but then I got TOO skinny, weighing 113. A number I haven’t seen on a scale since what? 8th grade? Lol . So I found a way to balance it… my tips : eat right, eat healthy, drink water, work out when you find the time and if you don’t have the time, make it. Sometimes, I work out in front of my mirror, Doesn’t need to be out in the sun or in the gym but I suggest doing something every day or every other day. I’m no work out freak but once you start seeing results, you won’t want to stop!

Since Model Savings is a Blog about saving money, Do you have any stories about how you saved money? Advice more than stories… COLLAB! Use your connections and find out who’s on the same hustle as you. There are many many Make up artists, photographers , wardrobe stylist , etc who are just starting out or are looking for a dope concept or idea to execute that YOU may have. I know we don’t all have a ton of money for a GREAT EXPENSIVE team. If this is you, help yourself by helping others. Bring something to the table and you may be able to create something amazing at no expense.

Do you have any advice for models that are just starting out?

Do your research ladies. There is a lot of creeps and people that like to take advantage of naïve girls with good intentions. People WILL try to sell you dreams.

Do not give your full trust to the girl who thinks your competition.

Keep it classy. Be professional.

Remember that things are hard to delete off the internet. Pretty impossible actually.
Figure out what you want. Modeling is a platform, to get to your biggest dreams.

& never let them tell you or make you feel like you cant do it. Weather your 5 feet tall or 7 feet tall, or somewhere in between. If you work hard enough, stay true to yourself and give nothing but positive energy, it will come back to you. The ways of the world. You only live once. <3

Model SAvings: Introducing Alexei Reyes
by Unknown on

Ladies it's not a wonder that I would def
start interviewing male models
but this male model
stood out to me so I decided to an interview with him
for the blog
and this is what he had to say.

How long have you been modeling for?I have been modelling for a year in the fashion industry, before that I was a fitness model for a couple of years.

What is your inspiration?

If you are referring to who my inspiration or role model is within the male model industry I would say that it is David Gandy because my opinion is that this guy broke the mould for the profile of male models.  He created a new male model profile globally that is more masculine, strong and elegant.

Being a male model what are the challenges that you face on everyday spectrum, Do you find that it is easy being a model or difficult?
I would say that the travel I get to do with my job can be very difficult at times, I am away from my family and friends and it can be lonely as I often am travelling on my own. Also daily castings are tough as they often feel like daily exams where I get judged

That being said, honestly I am very fortunate with the job I have, I am very privileged to have visited different counties with different cultures and worked with and learnt from very interesting, talented people. These experiences over the last year have developed me as a person and made me a better model.

What is your greatest accomplishment?
One of my recent accomplishments was doing runway for Miami Fashion Week, I opened the show for men. For me this was a proud moment as it was my first job in America and my first week in Miami.

do you feel that in the modeling industry male models are just for props, I have heard that a lot over the years?
For sure it is very difficult to compare the female model industry with the male model industry, but I think that the male fashion industry is growing as men are paying more attention to how they dress, fashion and their look. You see this reflected in the growing number of male targeted stores, male specific products (e.g. grooming), male fashion magazines etc which you see on the market.

What are some of the projects you have worked and or currently working on?
Over the last year I have worked in Europe (Spain, Italy, Turkey etc) where I worked on editorials, commercials, campaigns and runway. I moved to America this year and my goal now is to repeat similar success in my new country of residence.

What do you do to stay in shape, you are def fit and I am sure my readers would love to know this?
Basically I do lot of cardio, HIIT  system training, mixed with cycling and TRX.

Since Model Savings is a Blog about saving money, Do you have any stories about how you saved money?
When I first arrived in Miami I needed to find accommodation quickly but it looked like it was going to be too expensive for me to find anything as I didn't have a lot of money to cover the deposits and fees I needed. I asked around at work and managed to find someone who subleased their apartment to me whilst they were away on vacation. This was the perfect solution and saved me lots of money.

Do you have any advice for male models that are just starting out?
I would tell them that it is very important to learn everything you can about the industry. For example read up on the client and brand before a casting, find out about photographers and keep up to date with industry news. I would tell them that relationships are key - they need to network and build good relationships. Finally I would tell them the most important thing is to just be themselves!

Where can the readers find you on social media?
Yes I am on Instagram and Twitter - Alexei Reyes.

5 TIPS FOR ASPIRING MODELS
by Tatjana on

guest blog post by Tatjana Apukhtina

First of all, let me quickly introduce myself. I've been working as a model for over 6 years, doing commercial, fashion, catwalk, music videos etc. and its been an exciting and challenging journey for me which I would like to share with you.
I think many people have a very glamorous view of modelling profession. It is partly true - you get invited to lots of events and parties, you meet lots of interesting and inspiration people, you get to morph yourself into various characters and experiment with your looks.

Here are some of my favourite jobs:

At the same time, modelling life can be very challenging and tiring - it can really wear you out and frustrate you. Here are some key learnings from my personal experience which helped me to overcome those difficulties.

1. Learn to deal with rejection
A full time model goes on average to 10-20 castings a week - she would get maybe 1-2 jobs out of it, sometimes even none... its normal that not everyone like your look. The key here is not to take it personally if you are not taken on a job. Sometimes its just beyond your control.

2. Be confident and humble
When you go to castings be confident and friendly. People hire you to represent their brand - they need someone with personality, so a big part of nailing a job is the way you present yourself.
Once you do get a job, stay humble and be friendly to everyone on set - make friends!

3. Learn to love your body
If you genuinely love your body and your looks - everyone else will do as well.
Be proud of your appearance, after all you're a model!

4. Learn to budget
Don't spend all the money from your job straight away - you don't know when the next job is coming in...

5. Do other things on the side
I personally would have gone mad if I did just modelling and nothing else - the pressure of getting a job is just too high and can ruin you mentally. I'm very lucky to have started my own business on the side with a friend - developing a mobile app called Looks Good On Me which is due to launch in 3 weeks.

Well, these are my 5 tips for all you beautiful girls out there! Hope you enjoyed it :-)
