There are certain times of the year (more often than not) that are the best times for sales. This is beyond your basic Black Friday shopping venture. And whats most important is that now and these next few weeks are a great time for shopping and saving.
1. End of Winter season (February-March)
Now is the time for savings. Despite the temperature
outside, winter is coming to end. That means winter items will be on sale and
very cheap. It’s always smart to stock up now for next winter. If you’re afraid
of buying items that may not be in trend next winter season, buy up basics and
staples. You’ll be thanking yourself this time next year for buying 5 over sized
scarves.
2. After Christmas (January)
Retailers stock stores up before Christmas and whatever
doesn’t get sold by Christmas is discounted. I have found better deals in the
week after Christmas than any other time of the year. What’s great about these
sales is that it is a lot of winter clothing and accessories are discounted
(rather than waiting until the end of the season). I love visiting outlet malls during this time
of year, because I always find ways to save on designer brands.
3. End of Summer (August-September)
I love shopping around Labor Day weekend because that is
when the sales peak. The end of the summer season = discount summer clothes. Like
I said earlier, stock up on cotton tees and jeans, anything that can be used
for the fall and next spring/summer seasons.
4. After any major Holiday
Yeah there’s Black Friday which is (sort of) a safe bet when
it comes to finding great deals, but pretty much after any major holiday there
are going to be sales. Holidays call for stores to stock up on certain items—Halloween:
make up, costumes, candy, and decorations. Valentine’s Day is this weekend so
be on the lookout for sales on jewelry, candy, decorations, and other gift
items. It all depends on the holiday to catch certain sales.
5. School
Pay attention to back to school sales in September, not only
for clothing, but for office supplies and furniture. College students going
back to school or starting school need supplies for their dorm room and
classrooms. Spring Break is also a great time for sales. Look to see when your
local college/university goes on break. Bonus points if you’re in a major Spring
Break destination.
6. Thursday Evenings
Stores stock up for the weekends on Thursdays and that means
putting out the sale items. Rather than trying to rummage through a messy sale
section a Saturday afternoon, try shopping on a Thursday evening. You’ll get to
the sale items first just in time to get your right size.
